Here are the “onerous” ground rules :-)
These TODO items are for folks who wish to do something to help keep the Lodge running smooth and getting better. You are in no way obligated to do anything here. Strictly 100% voluntary, and 100% appreciated. While we do appreciate you donating your time & effort, we don't require that you donate your money. So please do let us know what it cost, and we'll be more than happy to reimburse you.
If you do decide to do something, could you please send Kipp or Shell an email and let us know? That way we can get the list updated and let other people know what's happening with a specific task.
If you have suggestions for changes to the list (additions/removals), let us know.
Sweeping up leaves here and there. The trees enjoy dumping their leaves all over the place, in particular the back porch areas, and the front walkway.
Pick up and prune dead branches around the house, and lawn areas. Also, pruning low hanging branches that you could easily run into is good as well.
The carport likes to collect dust and leaves and so on. If you feel up to it, give it a quick once over with the broom located in the garage storage closet.
Enjoy a nice walk on the trails and remove any brush/debris from them, especially after winter. Notcing and removing things that might puncture a golf cart tire, or hit somebody driving buy is esppecially appreciated. If there is a tree down or the path is washed out somewhere, please let us know.
Feel free to do any cobweb/wasp nest removal around the outside eaves (but be careful!). We are having them cleaned, but the insects are very busy, especially in the summer months.
Clean ashes out of the fireplace and ash can. This should be easy because people are supposed to leave things in good order. While you're at it, if you could make sure the wood closet is well stocked, that would be great as well.
Last done: Fall 2005 Call the chimney guy and setup a chimney cleaning once a year. The phone number is on a card at the lodge.
Last done June, 2006 Call “Crystal Palace Window Cleaning, 209-742-6522” and have them come out and clean the windows while you're there. They have done the house before.
Install some sort of automated gas shutoff system to prevent filling the house with propane again (Kipp is now kicking himself for having the last one removed instead of repaired.)
Replace under-cabinet lights (and over cabinet lights) in the kitchen with flourescents.
Sophet lights throughout house.
Garage door struggling to open/close.
Repair the fountain on the back patio.
Ken is currently investigating doing a major remodel of the cabin. If that sounds like your cup of tea, please contact him.
